You can't make music without instruments, and in a venue like Holy Trinity we also need to rely on some technology to help us fill that space. Here is just a selection of what we have available to help us do just that.
We are extremely fortunate to have this wonderful historic organ that was installed on Easter Sunday 1883 and built by ‘Father’ Henry Willis, who was responsible for building some of the very finest pipe organs in the country and across the world.
The organ is now regularly maintained by Taylor-Hammond Associates.
Our upright piano is a Japanese-made Yamaha U3, which is widely referred to as the industry standard for upright pianos in churches, schools and other public venues. It has a lovely touch, plays beautifully and has a gorgeous sound that really fills the church.
For our guitarists we have a couple of options: we can either use a microphone directly into the main mixing desk or, if you prefer, you can use a dedicated Marshall AS50R which is one of the most popular acoustic combos available.
And yes, this goes to 11 (obviously)…
Singers and other musicians (such as guitarists or violinists) generally like to have feedback to be able to hear themselves above the other instruments. We therefore have 4 Behringer Eurolive (B205D) PA Monitors which musicians can adjust themselves to obtain their preferred local mix.
All of this is brought together in our impressive Behringer X32 Digital Mixing Desk. With 40 inputs and 25 busses this gives us more than enough channels to route everything we need.
Not surprisingly, in a large space the size of Holy Trinity church we need a good set of microphones.
We therefore have a wide selection of vocal mics (Shure SM58s and Behringer XM8500s) as well as a complete Sennheiser XS Wireless setup for delivery of the service.
We are a small team of dedicated musicians at Holy Trinity Church in Twickenham. If you would like to learn more, or would like to get involved, please do contact us.
